Usually they are pretty excited when we orthopedic surgeons use their newest implants 🔨🦴

😷 To be honest, I don't change the implants I use very often, except when something new comes along that I feel can noticeably improve outcomes. There is a saying that “you don't want to be the first or the last” to use a new device / implant.

🦴 For me, one of the more noticeable changes was when I started using the Mini-tightrope by arthrex_inc for my thumb CMC arthroplasties about 10 years ago. My patients definitely got an earlier return to function.

✅ Another implant that I have switched to (for my silicone finger joint replacements) has been the KeriFlex by medartis_global . I have certainly seen good results with that.

🔨 Since people commonly ask me on social media what implants I like for certain issues, here's my breakdown:

I like jnj (Synthes) for general forearm or humerus bony trauma, zimmer_biomet Crosslock for distal radius fractures, medartis_global for hand fractures, acumedglobal for elbow trauma / radial replacements, arthrex_inc for all suture anchors, & stryker.orthopaedicinstruments for arthroscopies.

🦴 What implant do you use the most? Let me know in the comments. My most common implant is probably the Arthrex corkscrew suture anchor for hand and wrist ligament repairs.
