£250k in Britain buys completely different lives depending on where you go 🏡

In one part of the country, you’re getting a tiny studio.

In another… a detached house with land and mountain views.

Same budget. Totally different lifestyle.

📍London
At £250k, you’re basically at the entry point of the market now — usually a small studio or one-bed in outer boroughs, often leasehold and needing work. Considering average London prices are now sitting around the £550k mark, it really shows how brutal the affordability gap has become.

📍Manchester
This is where things start feeling more realistic. £250k is pretty much around the city average, so you can actually buy a modern apartment in places like Ancoats or Salford without feeling like you’re compromising on absolutely everything.

📍Yorkshire
This is where the value shift gets really obvious. In many parts of Yorkshire, £250k can still buy you an actual family house with a garden — something that feels increasingly impossible in parts of the South East.

📍Cornwall
People always assume Cornwall is impossible now… and yes, the dream coastal cottage market has gone mad. But £250k can still get you renovation projects and character cottages if you’re willing to compromise and put work in.

📍Scottish Highlands
This one always shocks people. In parts of the Highlands, £250k can still buy a detached home with land, views and proper space. The trade-off is usually jobs, infrastructure and distance — but for a lot of buyers now, that slower lifestyle is exactly the point.

Honestly… where would you choose?
Tiny London flat for location and buzz or space , quiet and somewhere beautiful? Also how are you feeling about the market in general ? Thoughts 👇🏽
