Tyler Skaggs was an American professional baseball pitcher who played for the Los Angeles Angels. Born on July 13, 1991, in California, he made his Major League Baseball debut in 2012 and became a key member of the Angels’ pitching rotation. He was respected for his talent, determination, and positive attitude, making him a popular teammate and an important player for the organization.

On July 1, 2019, Skaggs was found dead in his hotel room in Southlake, Texas, while the Angels were on a road trip. He was only 27 years old. An investigation later revealed that his death was caused by a combination of alcohol, fentanyl, and oxycodone. His passing shocked the baseball community and left his family, teammates, and fans devastated.

Just eleven days after his death, the Angels played their first home game since the tragedy and honored Skaggs by wearing his number 45 jersey. During that emotional game, pitchers Taylor Cole and Félix Peña combined to throw a no-hitter against the Seattle Mariners in a 13–0 victory. The remarkable achievement was seen as a tribute to their late teammate and remains one of the most memorable moments in baseball history.
