Thanks to everyone who showed up and supported the first-ever Taquero Super Torneo: El Torneo Más Picante 🌶️❤️‍🔥🏆

Hosted this past Saturday by whereisfootball lataco midcitymercado, the inaugural Taquero Super Torneo served as a celebration of fútbol culture and the best taquerías across Los Angeles. 

As the spotlight grows in the lead-up to the city hosting World Cup matches, the Taquero Super Torneo illustrated just how important community and independent culture is to the LA football family, with attendance being donation-based, supporting local nonprofits such as the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (chirla_org).

Only in a few places will you find teenagers and tías sharing the pitch, but the Taquero Super Torneo welcomed everyone and stood as a reminder that this game should be a space for all to feel welcome this summer. The event also served as an extension of Where Is Football’s Super Friendly event series, LA Taco’s Taco Madness, and Midcity Mercado’s monthly Mercado – also celebrating World Football Day with WIF being a member of the UN’s Football For The Goals initiative.
