One of the best riding days laceyjpl and I have ever had.

We started the day in the Intermediate group and within a few sessions got moved up to Advanced. For a while, we were flying. Fastest two riders in our group. Chasing each other, pushing each other, feeling like heroes.

Then someone rolled out of the garage.

A road-going Honda Fireblade SP. Mirrors. Number plate. No tyre warmers. No elbows down. No drama. No social media riding.

Just smooth.

Just precise.

Just fast.

It was none other than the God of the Isle of Man TT, jm130tt John McGuinness.

What happened next stayed with me more than any lap time.

He came straight over to us and watched us ride.

John and I were hanging off the bikes like we were auditioning for MotoGP. Trying to channel our inner Valentino Rossi.

He looked at us, smiled and said:

“You both are moving too much on the bike. Relax, guys.”

That was it.

No complicated theory. No magic setup. No secret technique.

While we were busy hanging off mirrors, he was busy hitting every apex with surgical precision.

The lesson from one of the greatest road racers of all time wasn’t about body position.

It was about control.

Less effort. More precision.

Less showing. More going.
