If you’ve ever done everything you were told to do - and it still didn’t work - this is for you.

School refusal is not a parenting failure. 
It’s not a child being dramatic. 
And it’s absolutely not something that gets better by pushing harder.

When a child’s nervous system is in full alarm, the logical, thinking part of their brain goes offline. 

They are not choosing to refuse. 
Their body is doing it for them. 

No amount of encouragement, consequences, or “just try” gets through - because the nervous system doesn’t respond to logic when it feels unsafe.

One more thing worth knowing: most of the advice you’ll find online - and even from professionals - is actually designed for school anxiety, not true school refusal. 

The two get lumped together constantly. 
But they’re very different. 

If you’re in true school refusal and the standard advice isn’t working, that’s not because you’re doing it wrong. 

It’s because the advice wasn’t made for your situation.

What actually helps is working with the nervous system, not against it.
