Paul McCartney said Paul Mescal required little instruction ahead of the actor’s performance as the former Beatle.
 
"It was amazing how studied and how well-educated he was about me. So, yeah, I thought, OK, I'll leave you to it,” McCartney said.
 
Alongside his film on the young McCartney, Sam Mendes is to direct three more on Beatles George Harrison, John Lennon, and Ringo Starr, which are planned for simultaneous release in 2028.
