Whoever holds the ball… needs to remember not to let go of the people. The scene starts out funny. Two people hold another by the leg, dangling over a bridge, trying to reach a red ball in the water. The challenge seemed simple: grab the ball and come back. But the moment she gets it and tosses the ball up, something automatic happens. The two let go of the person to catch the ball. And she falls into the water. The laughter comes quickly. But so does the reflection. Many teams do exactly this in the professional environment. They get so focused on the goal, the result, the number, the deadline, or the “object” of the achievement… that they forget to support the one doing the hardest work. And when people feel let go in the middle of the process, trust sinks before the result ever appears. Teamwork isn’t just about dividing tasks. It’s about maintaining support while the other person is vulnerable. It’s coordination. It’s attention. It’s collective awareness. In my trainings, we develop exactly this: aligned communication, emotional intelligence, collaborative leadership, decision-making under pressure, and trust-building within teams. Because performance without connection breeds burnout. And goals without support break people along the way. Great results happen when no one has to choose between holding the “ball” or taking care of the team. The best teams manage to do both.
