NBA YoungBoy, born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden on October 20, 1999, is a rapper, singer, and songwriter from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who began his musical journey at just 14 years old, recording his first songs on a microphone bought from Walmart.  

He debuted as one of 2015–2016’s rising talents, building a loyal following with his uncompromising street narratives, before a six-month prison sentence briefly interrupted his momentum. Following his release in 2017, he became a regular fixture on the Billboard charts, and his 2018 debut album Until Death Call My Name broke into the Top Ten.

Between 2019 and 2021, YoungBoy moved through the charts at a historically remarkable pace, amassing 16 top-10 albums, a feat that has him reportedly closing in on Elvis Presley’s RIAA certification record. Known for one of the most loyal fanbases in the industry, he has become a dominant force in hip-hop , cementing his legacy as one of the most prolific artists of his generation.
