How can you connect with a loved one who has passed?  One powerful way is through a simple writing practice. Write your loved one's name at the top of a page, say a prayer inviting only the highest good, and begin to write.  You can write to them, or allow yourself to receive and write down whatever thoughts, feelings, memories, or messages come through.  The goal isn't to force a connection. It's to create a quiet space where love, memory, and guidance can be received.
