The saddest part about Jon and Ygritte is how badly they both wanted a simpler life neither of them could have.

Ygritte challenged the version of Jon that had been shaped by duty and honour, while Jon gave Ygritte a kind of emotional safety she rarely allowed herself to admit she wanted. 

That’s why their chemistry still lingers years later. It didn’t feel written to be iconic. It felt like two people briefly finding warmth in the middle of a very cold story.
