3 years since my dad passed. 💔

i always find myself going back to this home video, from the day i was born. this part where he’s holding me and just looking at me. it’s one of my favorite videos of us because i know how much this moment meant to him.

my dad used to tell me the story of the day i was born every chance he got. and every time, he would get emotional. i think that day made him feel proud and accomplished. like being there, witnessing me come into the world, and holding a life he had part in creating for the first time was one of the best moments of his life.

watching it now makes me feel so many things at once. it makes me so deeply sad that he’s gone, but it also makes me feel loved in a way i don’t even know how to explain. like i’m getting to witness a version of him, and a version of us, that still exists somewhere even if life looks completely different now.

three years into grief, i wish i could say it feels easier, but honestly, the last three years have felt like a blur. my life changed completely, and i’m still learning what this new version of life is supposed to look like.

i miss my dad more than words will ever be able to hold, but i hope in some way, through the life i’m building and the choices i’m making, i’m honoring him.
