Sunscreen isn’t just about SPF. The active ingredients matter, too.

There are two main types of UV filters used in sunscreen: mineral and chemical.
☀️ Mineral sunscreens use ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to sit on top of the skin and reflect UV rays.
☀️ Chemical sunscreens absorb UV rays before they can damage the skin. Some chemical filters have been shown to absorb into the bloodstream, which has sparked ongoing research and debate around their long-term safety.

That doesn’t mean sunscreen is bad. Wearing sunscreen daily is still one of the best things you can do to protect your skin, and understanding the ingredients can help you choose the formula that feels right for you.
