A Greek winery that's a pure narrative of its place. 😌🍃🇬🇷

During Open Doors 2026, I visited ktima_panagopoulos in Mantineia, a family winery whose journey began in the early 1990s and continues today through a new generation carrying forward the same passion for vineyards, wine, and the land they call home.

What stood out most was the strong connection between family, terroir, and identity.

Here, every bottle begins in the family's own vineyards. From vineyard to bottle, every stage remains closely connected to the people behind it, reflecting a philosophy built on dedication, continuity, and respect for place.

Located in the heart of Mantineia, at approximately 650 metres altitude, the vineyards benefit from the region's distinctive cool-climate conditions, helping shape the aromatic character and freshness that have made Moschofilero one of Greece's most recognised native varieties. 🤍

Yet the story extends beyond the vineyard.

The winery draws inspiration from the mythology of ancient Mantineia, bringing figures such as Antinoi, Asteropi, and Kifeas into its collection. Plus a low intervention Moschofilero. More than names on a label, they are reminders that wine can also preserve the memory, culture, and stories of a region.

Walking through the winery, meeting the family, and discovering the journey behind the wines was a reminder of what wine tourism is truly about.

Not simply tasting. But understanding. Understanding the landscape, the people, the traditions, and the stories that shape every bottle long before it reaches the glass. 🍇

Thank you to the Panagopoulos family for the warm hospitality and for sharing a piece of Mantineia's story during Open Doors 2026.

Because the most memorable wine experiences are never only about wine. They are about people, place, and the stories that connect them.

See you soon!! ✨
