One of my biggest bucket list travel experiences has been ticked off 👌🏼 And it was even better than I imagined!

1. Wake up time is *early*: expect a 3-3:30am alarm and your pickup around 4am 🥱

2. You get snacks: Many companies include a small breakfast before and a champagne toast after. We booked with iamcappadocia and these were all included.

3: Get a spot at an end basket: Baskets on these balloons aren’t square, they’re rectangular & split into 6 compartments; 2 on each side & one either end. If you’re in a side basket, your view is blocked by the pilot / flame / ropes. Get in one of the end baskets for the best photos. 

4: Balloons are not guaranteed to fly: They will only go up when it’s safe, Sept/Oct & May/June are the most reliable months. December - Feb are the least reliable. Often they are cancelled when you’re en route to or at the air field. There are websites you can use to check your chance of flying. If you comment CAPPADOCIA I’ll DM the link.

5: You don’t pay if you don’t fly: if your flight is cancelled, you get a second or third chance to go. You’ll get a refund if you can’t fly at all!

6: Most balloons have cameras: if you want great footage of the experience but don’t have a camera, many balloons have an insta360 cameras attached & will have the footage available after the flight.

7: Flights are smoother than you’d think: You don’t feel like you’re in the air the ride is so smooth. flights are regulated by the Turkish Civil Aviation authority with strict safety regulations ❤️

8: The views from the ground are spectacular: If heights aren’t your thing, book a hotel with a terrace where you can watch the balloons. We stayed at heybehotelgoreme where these videos were taken. There’s also a balloon viewpoint in Goreme with stunning views.
