## Caption

Sometimes the hardest part of growing up gay isn’t coming out, it’s grieving the life you had always imagined for yourself.

For Pride Month, I wanted to share something more personal than I usually do online (FULL ARTICLE LINK IN BIO).

Coming out was only part of my journey (the easier part, my family were amazing), the harder part was quietly grieving and letting go of the life I thought I was always going to have, the classic, grow up, find a girl, get married, and have children just like my parents, the soaps, and family friends did.

 It was years of learning to accept myself without shame or fear, and in time even come to like myself.

I’m so proud of who I am now, but I also wanted to acknowledge the younger version of me who struggled for so long to believe he could be. 

If this helps even one person feel less alone, then sharing it is worth it. 🤍
