Nebraska baseball's 2026 season ended sooner than the Huskers hoped, but not before a senior-led group helped restore the program to heights not seen in nearly two decades.

Nebraska finished with 44 victories, its most wins since 2005, and hosted an NCAA Regional for the first time in 18 years. The Huskers' season began in Arizona in February and ended in May against Arizona State, but along the way Nebraska re-established itself as one of the nation's top programs.

The Huskers posted a .958 winning percentage at home, setting a new school record at Haymarket Park while losing only three games on their home field. Nebraska also hosted the program's 20th NCAA Regional and seventh regional overall.

"This team has set the standard," senior Dylan Carey said. "The standard is to host and be an Omaha team."

Nebraska's offense powered much of its success. The Huskers run-ruled opponents eight times and scored 10 or more runs in 18 games during the season.

Freshman Drew Greco emerged as one of the program's brightest stars, earning Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors after producing one of the best rookie seasons in school history.

Carey also cemented his place in the Nebraska record book, becoming the program's all-time doubles leader.

For head coach Will Bolt, the season's success was built on a veteran group that helped establish a culture he hopes carries forward.

"It's been 18 years since we hosted a regional. We've got the most wins since 2005," Bolt said. "These guys have laid the groundwork. They've proven time and time again that the best teams are player-led."

Nebraska's 10-player senior class leaves behind a blueprint for future teams to follow.

"These guys have been amazing ambassadors for that," Bolt said. "What we have to take to next year is the understanding of what it takes to set the standard every single day."

The next generation of Huskers already understands the expectations. Many players will spend the summer competing in prestigious leagues across the country, including the Cape Cod League, Northwoods League, and others, before returning for fall workouts.

The ultimate goal remains unchanged.

Two years ago, Nebraska was exiting a regional in Stillwater. This spring, the Huskers were hosting one in Lincoln. The next step is Omaha.

"We left this program in a better place than we found it," Carey said. "That's all I can hope the next group does as well."

After a season that produced historic accomplishments and renewed expectations, Nebraska's focus now shifts toward building on that foundation and making a run at the College World Series in 2027.
