“… ANQI, meanwhile, merges the enigmatic Chinese character 梦 (“dream”) with Hiromita, her signature character inspired by the traditional Chinese tile cat. Within dark dreamscapes filled with gold, silver, and jewels, Hiromita becomes part of a spiritual allegory charged with primal force. One bright and one shadowed, one buoyant and one inward, the two artists mirror one another, together presenting a complete spectrum of contemporary painting between the worldly and the spiritual, between desire and mystery.“ - from the curatorial text of Avy Yang
