⚖️ The Trump DOJ just charged the Southern Poverty Law Center — the organization that has been tracking hate groups in America for 55 years.

The DOJ accused the SPLC of withholding information gathered from white supremacist groups. But the SPLC fired back, filing a motion to dismiss and saying the DOJ didn't interview a single member of the organization or obtain any documents before bringing charges.

"The government can't prosecute the SPLC as payback for its protected speech — it violates basic constitutional rights," said interim CEO Bryan Fair.

Think about what's happening here. The organization that tracks and exposes white supremacists is being prosecuted — while the administration doing the prosecuting has dismantled DEI offices, erased Black history from federal websites, and gutted civil rights protections across the board.

"The SPLC will vigorously defend ourselves. We will continue to fight hate. And we will continue to envision and create a safer and more just world."
