Philadelphia City Council has rejected Mayor Cherelle Parker's proposed $1 tax on ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft during Thursday's budget hearing. 

The tax was part of the mayor's proposed $7 billion budget. 

Earlier this week, sources told CBS Philadelphia the proposed tax did not have the nine votes needed to pass city council.
