Tom Miller Award for Social Impact 🏆❤️

In recognition of their incredible fundraising efforts, the Tom Miller Award for Social Impact is awarded to Charlotte Seale – representing Rugby Minds, University of Nottingham. 👏

This award recognises a club or individual who has made a significant impact through charitable or awareness raising activities, named in memory of Tom Miller who made a significant contribution to the university game.  

Emily Miller commented when reading all the nominations that Social Impact is more than money raised, and how it goes beyond this into raising awareness, increasing diversity and it’s about giving something a go and trying to enact change. When she read this nomination, she felt that the nominee truly embodied this idea of social impact and their ability to shift culture and creating safe spaces is something Tom would 100% support.  

Charlotte has played a leading role in the delivery and development of uonrugbyminds, an award-winning, student-led initiative designed to challenge harmful behaviours and improve the culture of university rugby. She has helped shape and deliver a programme that tackles the issues student players tell us matter most: mental health, inclusion, and player welfare, across both the men’s and women’s clubs. 

She is currently developing a workshop for delivery to over 500 students across the men’s and women’s programmes, focused on consent, positive behaviour, and respect in sport—work that has the potential to shift expectations and standards across an entire rugby community. 

Her work is not defined by fundraising totals, but by the tangible and lasting difference she has made to the experiences of others. Through her leadership, innovation, and commitment to positive change, she has had a significant impact on both the university and the wider rugby community.
