“For young girls now to have women players they can look up to – it’s amazing. And that’s the way it should be. Not just every four years when the Olympics are on. They can go to games now. They can get their jerseys. They can watch them.”

When usask Athletic Wall of Fame inductee Breanne George started playing hockey, she played with the boys.

It wasn’t until high school that she joined a girls’ league, going on to play AAA for the Saskatoon Stars and for Huskie Women’s Hockey.

During her time with huskiewhky she became the program’s all-time leader in points (144) and goals (81), and still holds the best single-season mark in Huskie history, when in 2009-10 she led the conference with 28 goals and 46 points.

She also became the first Huskie Women’s Hockey player to be named the Canada West MVP, was the recipient of the University of Saskatchewan’s Mary Ethel Cartwright Trophy and a First Team All-Canadian (twice).

George is also a three-time Canada West All-Star and Canada West Hall of Fame inductee.
