AOL Wednesday Season 3
Week 1 Recaps

Game 1: Bang Bros vs. Thunder Buddies

Emotions were high as many players on both sides were teammates last season. The teams traded baskets throughout the first half, with Bang Bros taking a 32-25 lead into halftime. Thunder Buddies made a push in the second half, but Bang Bros stayed locked in and continued to build on their momentum and confidence. Bang Bros secured the season-opening win, 58-46.

Game 2: Fries vs. Norcal

The defending regular season powerhouse, Team Norcal, looked to bounce back after a disappointing first-round playoff exit last season. Meanwhile, Team Fries entered the league eager to make a name for themselves. The game was competitive early on, Fortunately for Norcal, everyone stepped up and kept the offense rolling. In the second half, it was the Jarron show. He was everywhere, doing MVP things and taking over the game. Norcal pulled away for an impressive 85-63 victory.

Game 3: Garment vs. Scuba

Last season’s runner-up, Team Garment, came into Week 1 looking to continue where they left off. On the other side, Team Scuba made their Wednesday League debut with hopes of making an immediate impact. Garment carried a 7-point lead into halftime and maintained control throughout the game. Scuba’s core group handled most of the offensive workload, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Garment’s balanced attack. Garment opened the season strong with an 80-63 win.

Game 4: Magic City vs. Goon Squad

Team Magic City, a semifinalist last season, entered the new campaign ready to make another deep run. However, Goon Squad, one of the league’s newest teams, had other plans. Goon Squad came out energized and built a double-digit lead by halftime. Magic City fought back in the second half and cut into the deficit, but Goon Squad dominated the boards and controlled the tempo down the stretch. Their rebounding effort proved to be the difference as Goon Squad earned a statement win, 59-45.

Week 1 is officially in the books. Some familiar contenders picked up where they left off, while new teams showed they’re ready to compete.

See y’all next week!
