One of the clearest signs that someone is in conflict with themselves is when the body and mind aren't telling the same story.

The conscious mind can say, "I'm okay with this."

The body often has a different opinion.

Tension shows up in subtle ways: fidgeting, restless movements, shifting eyes, protective gestures, changes in posture.

None of these automatically mean someone is lying, but they can signal internal conflict.

The body has a remarkable way of revealing what the mind is trying to suppress.

This is why self-deception is so exhausting. It requires constant effort to maintain a story that doesn't fully align with what you genuinely feel.

Many people try to intellectually convince themselves they're comfortable with situations that trigger deep emotional reactions. They tell themselves they shouldn't feel jealous, possessive, hurt, or concerned.

But feelings don't disappear because you've created an argument against them.

You can override your instincts for a while.

You can rationalise them.

You can suppress them.

But if there's a gap between what you truly feel and what you're telling yourself, your body will often reveal that tension long before you're willing to admit it.
