To the Rhythm of Marta. It’s not been easy for the Pride to get into a groove this season. But they’ve found their step over the past four league matches to get 10 out of 12 possible points. And just at the right time too. With the World Cup right around the corner, Brazilians Marta and Adriana have started to click up front, and they showed it against the Spirit on Saturday. Washington had already bested them in the Challenge Cup earlier in the week, but this time at Exploria, Orlando came out on top 2-1. Marta was as clinical as ever from the spot, and she delivered an assist too for good measure. Vintage. At 37 years old, you’d expect the legend to start closing out this chapter of her soccer career, but no, some things just get finer with age. Who knows how much longer we’ll get to see her at the top of her game, but for now, we’re lucky to enjoy one of the greatest to ever play the sport right here in NWSL. With the entire Orlando squad starting to pick things up, we could see them make a solid push for playoffs if they can stay consistent. It’d be nice to have one last dance.
