🚨 Sophia Wood is the IWLCA Division II Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year... one of only three players in all of collegiate women’s lacrosse to earn National Player of the Year honors this season. 🚨

But this post isn’t really about an award.

It’s about what happens when talent meets consistency.

Not everyone saw a future National Player of the Year in HS.

We did. saintleowlax did. 

When Sophia Wood joined Lax On Elite as a sophomore in high school, she was often viewed as a soccer player who happened to play lacrosse. We saw something different: an athlete willing to do the work. 

Over the next seven years, Sophia became a fixture in our program.

She trained relentlessly. She showed up. She stayed consistent. Through high school, through college, through success and setbacks, she kept chasing growth one day at a time.

While others were taking breaks, Sophia was in College Commitment Training all four years and "off seasons" repping the details hard. While others talked about goals, Sophia was building the habits required to achieve them. She invested in her strength training she out to one of the best pfitnessrp , her skill development and most importantly, herself.

She didn’t just wear the jersey. She gave back to it.

Under the leadership and mentorship of Jessica Scott, Sophia spent years coaching within our program, helping develop the next generation while continuing to raise her own standard.

This post isn’t really about an award.

It’s about what happens when talent meets consistency.

It’s about what happens when an athlete chooses growth over excuses.

It’s about what happens when someone commits to getting 1% better every single day.

The award is the result.

The journey is the story.

Congratulations, Sophia. Thank you for trusting the process, representing our club the right way and showing every young athlete in our program what’s possible.
