Holbrook is Long Island's most competitive housing market, with 82% of homes selling over asking price, followed closely by Ronkonkoma, Selden, Farmingville, and North Babylon. 

These middle Suffolk County areas attract first-time buyers, but low inventory has triggered intense competition, pushing prices past $600,000 from pre-pandemic averages of $400,000. 

A real estate appraiser noted, "This is not a story of billionaires paying above ask. This is people of more modest means being subjected to intense competition from their peers, and they literally have no choice if they want to own a home."
