LIONS PREPARE FOR STATE FINALS: Friday’s opening day of the 2026 CIF State Track and Field Championships at Buchanan High School in Clovis saw athletes from both the jserra.tfxc Girls and Boys Track and Field team position themselves for a chance to compete for the state’s top prizes. 

Senior Alden Morales earned the best qualifying clocking in the boys’ 800m, as he stepped across the finish line in a Heat 2 winning time of 1:51.41.

Morales, who placed third in the state last year, will be making his second straight appearance in the finals of the 800m.

Junior Reese Holley also supplied a Heat 2 winning effort in the girls 800m, as she clocked a time of 2:09.44 and will compete in the 800m state finals for the first time.

Senior Chloe Elbaz (2:10.15) advanced to the 800m finals for the second straight year.

The Lions’ pole-vaulting duo of junior Adi Rusin and senior Helena Reuter will compete in the finals on Saturday, as both cleared 11 feet, 8 inches in qualifying to advance.

The Lions will also compete in both the Boys and Girls 4x800m relay finals on Saturday.
