I have always been a strict schedule person when it comes to sleep for the kids 

We rarely miss bedtime

But lately the kids have been asking what things mommy does for fun. They’re intrigued and they want to be a part of it. I’ve shared concert videos with them and they have been asking to go with me

So when I saw the arkellsmusic were coming to Fergus of all places for a music festival, I thought it would be a great first concert experience for the kids 

For days leading up to the festival I worried that I had made a bad decision 

Was I keeping them up too late?
Was I being selfish by wanting them to experience something I cared about? 
Was I a bad mom? 

And then we got there and I knew it was the right decision. The kids played soccer with the other kids there, they had snacks, they were in awe of the “hundred million people” that were there 😂😂 they loved the music and they loved the experience of it all! 

Of course, they were tired. 2 of the 3 fell asleep before the show was over and we left with a few songs left but it was such a fun experience and I’m SO glad we went 

Watching the whole thing through their eyes was an experience I will forever remember and made it all SO worth it 

And the experience had me thinking.. so often we say that our hobbies and things we enjoy as people before having kids have to end when we become parents. But the truth is, it doesn’t have to! Yes, things change, but I just think they get so much better!! 

I will never forget singing my favourite Arkells song with my kiddo. During this song Oscar tapped me shoulder and said “mommy, that guy singing is really good” 🥹😂 

So what I’m really trying to say is don’t let doubt or the “shoulds” or “shouldnts” stop you from experiencing things with your kids 

Be flexible with the rules sometimes 
Include your littles in the things you love 
I promise you, it will be so worth it
