State 18 out of 50 brought us to the forests of Western North Carolina 🌎✈️🚗🌲🍃 and straight into the arms of the trolls 🪵🧌✨ (These 12 are relocating to the South Coast Botanic Garden in Southern California 🌴🌿)

We’ve officially added the thomasdambo trolls at the thencarboretum to our family troll-hunting list, and honestly, this was the reason we made the trip 🗺️🥾🌿 There is something so magical about turning a hike into a scavenger hunt for giants hiding quietly among the trees 🌳👀

Danish artist Thomas Dambo builds his trolls entirely from recycled and reclaimed wood ♻️🪵🔨, transforming scraps into massive works of art 🎨🏗️ His message is simple and powerful: connect with nature 🌱, waste less ♻️, conserve more 🌍, and spend meaningful time outdoors together 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧☀️

We love posing with them 📸, but even more, we love the reminder to slow down, explore, and protect the beautiful world around us 🌎💚

So far, we’ve found two in Rhode Island 📍, six at the Philadelphia Zoo 🐘, (temporary traveling exhibit) and one our home state of New Jersey (Big Rusty!) 🧌, and now these incredible trolls in North Carolina ⛰️ Every single one feels like discovering a hidden treasure 🗺️✨
