Any soccer movie recs? 👀 ⬇️

This week, we got an invite from whatsapp to attend the world premiere of the new film “Bukayo Saka: The Time Is Now” in New York, and it hit closer to home than we expected.

Growing up, we used to devour any soccer movies or documentaries that we were lucky to catch on TV or online, and it was a formative part of our love story with the beautiful game. Over the past year, though, it’s been tough to slow down on the road and get to quietly watch one of our favorite types of films.

Getting to attend this premiere felt really special as a way to both connect with fellow fans and get inspired by the themes of the film. Speaking with Jaylen Brown following the screening, Saka left us with a reflection that is still echoing in our minds:

“Now that I got that taste of winning, I have a whole new hunger for it.”

With the biggest summer for American soccer on the horizon, we can’t help but hope that a successful tournament (quarterfinal please 🙏) only inspires thousands of people to fall in love with this sport and develop a hunger to keep pushing its development forward for generations.

Overall, it was awesome to watch a documentary following a historic moment for a player, a team, and a fervent fanbase that was waiting for their moment for decades. Hopefully it’s the same for all of us U.S. fans this summer.

You can stream the full film starting June 7th on Disney+, the ESPN App, or FOX One!
