Come along with us as we spend a morning with CARRUMBA, the dam of 2026 Grade I Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo, at Claiborne Farm ☀️ 

Quite the talented racehorse in her own right, the 14-year-old daughter of Bernardini won the 2016 GIII Top Flight Invitational Handicap and placed in seven other graded races. A Phipps Stable homebred trained by Shug McGaughey, Carrumba earned $621,500 in her 15 career starts.

Retired in 2017, she has since produced five foals in her second chapter as a broodmare, including the now well-known Golden Tempo, her third foal.

Carrumba’s yearling filly by Liam’s Map is still on the farm. Though the gray mare was barren this year, Carrumba is currently in foal to Gun Runner for 2027.

On Saturday, the Cherie DeVaux-trained Golden Tempo will run in the GI Belmont Stakes at Saratoga, the final leg of the Triple Crown.
