On Saturday morning, May 30, a quiet stretch of South Street in Lower Manhattan filled with color, dhol drums, and dancing as the families of delishadish and heenz88 led a traditional baraat to the doors of casaciprianinyc.

The groom, a finance professional with Bravia Capital, chose to walk among his closest people rather than ride in, turning the procession into a moving embrace. His bride awaited at the restored Battery Maritime Building overlooking New York Harbor.

The Bhise family brought rare wattage to the morning. The groom’s father, Bharat Bhise, is founder and CEO of Bravia Capital. His mother, swatibhise, the acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancer and filmmaker behind The Warrior Queen of Jhansi, was the unofficial captain of the baraat, dancing every step. The groom’s sister, actress devikabhise, known for The Man Who Knew Infinity and the title role in The Warrior Queen of Jhansi, danced alongside her husband nicholasgilson, founder and CEO of Gilson Snow, their young son hoisted high above the crowd.

The beat came from djlishkaraent, whose Bollywood and bhangra set kept the whole procession moving until a soft, auspicious drizzle met them at the venue doors.
