A Tucson family is grieving after a tragic accident during a trip to Rocky Point earlier this spring.

According to reports from local Sonora media and the Arizona Daily Star, 25-year-old Julio Rojo of Tucson passed away during the early morning hours of April 4, 2026, after falling from the second-story terrace of the Shark Bite bar along Puerto Peñasco’s Malecón. 

Authorities say the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. Witnesses reported that Rojo had been sitting near the edge of the rooftop terrace when he apparently lost his balance and fell roughly two stories to the sidewalk below. Emergency crews responded, but he later passed away from his injuries. 

The story gained attention across Southern Arizona because Rocky Point remains one of the most popular weekend destinations for Tucson and Phoenix residents, especially during the spring and summer travel season.

At this time, no additional official updates have been released, and the incident is being remembered as a heartbreaking accident.
