Did you know that Ottawa has only two basilicas? One is Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica, famous for its stunning blue ceiling, and the other is St. Patrick’s Basilica, a beautiful Gothic church right in downtown. It’s truly a hidden gem of our city! 💎

St. Patrick’s Basilica was built between 1869 and 1875, making it the second oldest church in Ottawa after Notre-Dame Cathedral. It’s also the second largest in the capital.

The basilica was built to serve the Irish community in Ottawa and is named after St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Its Neo-Gothic style features high arches that resemble those of Notre-Dame Cathedral, and beautiful stained-glass windows.

It’s definitely worth a visit. It’s open every day and admission is free.
