I thought a lot about opening a new account, even though my plate already feels pretty full with running Ottawa Is Not Boring. 😅 So where would I even find the time for a second account? 🤔

Still, I have decided to give it a try, mainly because of a feeling that the main account was, in a way, limiting.

As you’ve probably noticed, my main account focuses on events and things to do in Ottawa, and my audience has gotten used to that. Whenever I posted something outside of that scope, I noticed a reaction, usually not a great one: unfollows, DMs reminding me that the account is “supposed” to be about Ottawa, not my home country, and not a personal content. 😮Hahaha… wild, right? 

Over time, I realized I wanted more freedom to post about my dog if I felt like it, to share thoughts, or just be more myself. At the same time, I didn’t want to bother followers who are simply there to stay informed about events in Ottawa. That’s when a new account started to feel like the right solution.

Also, I’m a journalist by training and I love to write, but my posts on the main account have naturally become more practical, fast, and straight to the point.

So this is how carlainottawa was born. My hope is to create a more personal space here, one you can enjoy alongside my Ottawa Is Not Boring blog.
