Horror movies don't need a monster. They don't need gore. You just need a humming fluorescent light, a distant echo in an empty corridor, and the creeping feeling that something is off. That the space you're in isn't safe. That you're not alone.

Here's the science: your brain has a built-in alarm system, and sound triggers it faster than any image can. It's called auditory looming bias, a primal survival instinct that makes approaching sounds feel more threatening than they actually are. Your brain overestimates how fast a sound is closing in on you. It's been wired that way since before we were human.
