The longtime AHL defenseman leaves the game as one of the league's most respected veterans, serving as captain of the Hershey Bears and helping the club capture back-to-back Calder Cup championships in 2023 and 2024. Ness also appeared in 72 NHL games with the New York Islanders, Washington Capitals, and Arizona Coyotes, while representing the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
