Today’s #Artist365 feature introduces Bruce Ma from Studio 371.

Bruce has been creating art since the age of six. He views art as a form of communication—an unspoken dialogue between the artist and the viewer. He believes that strong artwork should stand on its own without explanation, and that it is the artist’s responsibility to craft a visual impact powerful enough to carry the message.

Much of Bruce’s early work focused on evoking emotion through motion, exploring how energy and movement can shape a viewer’s response.

In recent years, he has turned his attention to urban sketching as a way to practice art publicly and spontaneously. During this exploration, he developed a technique he calls the Chain Reaction Theory, a method that enables artists to sketch at remarkable speed while producing dynamic, high‑energy line work. After teaching this approach to fellow urban sketchers, he saw immediate improvements in their confidence and results.

Bruce’s next pursuit is to expand this concept into other mediums to discover how far its expressive potential can reach. Never content to remain at the same level, he continually seeks inventive ways to strengthen the clarity, impact, and emotional resonance of his artistic communication.
