𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗟 ➤ The single-best game of #PaoloBanchero’s career — and the craziest game I’ve ever watched — ends in heart-shattering double-overtime defeat. 💔

𝗦𝗪𝗜𝗣𝗘 ➡️ for stats (correct stats are on my story)

➤ The second this game went into its first overtime period, I knew that, win or lose, I was going to enjoy this game all the same. It isn’t crazy to say that we will look back at this game as #PaoloBanchero’s premier performance on his road to superstardom. 

➤ Banchero (43 PTS) was easily tonight’s MVP, regardless of the outcome. At one point in crunch time, he scored 1️⃣8️⃣ straight points, putting the entire squad on his shoulders. He looked confident in every shot he took (13-25 FG, 6-9 3PT) and piloted the Magic to their most efficient — and highest-scoring— game of the season. His clutch gene was reminiscent of some of the NBA’s finest, winningest stars as he knocked down clutch bucket after clutch bucket. In sum, he was nearly unstoppable. 

➤ #JalenSuggs’ 25-point night confirmed his role as Orlando’s third star. His efficient 3PT clip (6-12) reminded us of his days at Gonzaga, and he didn’t shy away from any tough attempt. Don’t look at #MalikMonk’s stats and assume that was Suggs’ fault. He was defending nearly every position at one point during the game. If it weren’t for him playing our second fiddle, this game wouldn’t be nearly as exciting. Bravo. 

➤ With early injuries that sidelined #FranzWagner and #GaryHarris, atop our plethora of pre-game injuries, it was up to our third unit to answer the call. And they certainly picked up. #ChumaOkeke (3-4 3PT) sunk four straight buckets in the 4th. #CalebHoustan (15 PTS, 4-6 3PT) had the finest game of his season. #TrevelinQueen (2 STL, 6 AST) was a complete pest on defense in his first real minutes for the Magic. And lastly, #AnthonyBlack’s slowly establishing himself as a true playmaker… and a damn good hustler, too. 

➤ I’m still screaming “START #GOGABITADZE” until I can’t anymore, but #WendellCarterJr was extremely valuable as a bench piece. Maybe it’s for the best, after all…
