𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙊𝙧𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙤’𝙨 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙧 𝙎𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 ⤵️

NBA Preseason is often disregarded as pointless basketball. On the other hand, it can also point to what we’ll see in the regular season. 

1️⃣ ➤ #JalenSuggs started in three of four games in limited minutes. Through just under 19 MPG, Suggs averaged 7.7 PTS and 1.7 STL on 36.4% 3PT. The starting SG competition was between him and #GaryHarris, who didn’t start during the preseason. 

2️⃣ ➤ #JettHoward will (at one point) work his way into the regular rotation. What separates Howard from fellow rookie #AnthonyBlack on offense is his range and confidence while shooting. Howard’s 9.3 PTS on 39.1% 3PT (5.8 3PA 😳) was a pleasant surprise to Magic fans who unfortunately wrote him off before he strapped up. 

3️⃣ ➤ Expect #PaoloBanchero to assume a bigger role as a playmaker this season. This expectation was evident as 2022-23 unfolded, as we saw his value with creating shots for teammates and for himself. He spent most of preseason with a laid back demeanour, passing first before attempting to shoot. He averaged 7.7 PTS and 3.0 AST in under 20 MPG. 

4️⃣ ➤ #CalebHoustan is HUNGRY, and he used his starting opportunity vs. Flamengo to showcase his trigger finger from beyond the arc. His 9.0 PTS on 50.0% 3PT (5.0 3PA) might give the Magic enough hope to slide him into the rotation… but I’d assume it would take a few months. 

5️⃣ ➤ I don’t know what to expect from our bench rotation. More specifically, who’s going to be getting consistent minutes. I know #ColeAnthony and #MoritzWagner are shoe-ins, but who makes up the next 3-4 spots? I’d bet #JoeIngles, #JonathanIsaac and #GaryHarris are also practically guaranteed. Everyone else will need to prove their worth.
