The NBA community has lost one of, if not the greatest, leaders in #WillisReed today. The 2x NBA Champion passed away today at the age of 80. (1942-2023) 🙏 

While Reed had no affiliation with the #Magic organization, it’s only right to commemorate him as one of the fiercest competitors the league has ever seen. 

Reed played 10 seasons in the NBA, all wearing a #Knicks uniform. He famously led a New York squad that featured #WaltFrazier, #BillBradley, #DaveDeBusschere and #DickBarnett en route to 2 NBA Championships. 

Reed’s renowned Game 7 comeback in the 1970 NBA Finals is a true testament to his historic leadership. After suffering a severely torn thigh muscle that withheld him from Game 6 of the series, he received cortisone injections that allowed him to play through the injury in Game 7. While only scoring 4 PTS in the match, his resilience fuelled the Knicks to secure the win and bring home the first of their 2 Championships won under Reed and company. 

The textbook definition of a fighter. Be like Willis Reed, ladies and gentlemen. May he rest in peace 🙏
