French painter Henri Rousseau (1844-1910) created magical jungle paintings full of dreams, wild animals, and imagination.

Interestingly, he had no formal academic art training and never traveled to a real jungle. He was inspired by botanical gardens in Paris, illustrated books, and stories he heard from soldiers returning from abroad. Yet he created some of the most iconic jungle paintings in art history 🫶🌴
