Sunday afternoon, a mulch fire erupted at the Living Earth facility at 5802 Crawford Rd. No injuries or fatalities have been reported. 

The Houston Fire Department spokesperson Sedrick Robinett said the fire could take up to a week to extinguish.

“They have a water source in place as well as tractors to help move the huge piles of mulch,” Robinett said of US Fire Pump, the private fire protection company now in charge of incident. 

The crews will need to spread out the burning mulch in order to put out the fire. 

A cause has yet to be determined and is under investigation, according to another HFD spokesperson, Martee Black.
