Houston Public Media reporter Patricia Ortiz spoke to Angelina Saucedo from Houston Humane  Society about the shelter’s animal overcrowding.

The shelter said less animals were adopted last month compared to the number of animals they received in their facility. 

Saucedo said she’s heard of people who are moving into apartments or out of town can’t take their pets with them. 

As a solution to the overcrowding situation, the shelter is waiving adoption fees for animals that have been in the shelter for 90 days. Animals over a year old will have a discounted adoption fee.
