Couples declared their love for one another at the Heritage Society’s Valentine’s Express Wedding event Tuesday morning.

Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth says the Heritage Society gave Houstonians an easier and more affordable way to say, “I do”.

“The first step to getting married is getting your marriage license. We’re providing those marriage licenses here at this office, and then they’re able to walk right over to the Church or many different historical sites here at the Heritage Society to actually get married,” she said.

Texas law requires couples to wait 72 hours after receiving a marriage license before they can have their wedding ceremony. However, the couples were able to waive the law for this event.
