When the monuments rise from the mist.
I arrived in Monument Valley and there was nothing to see. Just fog, just grey, just the road disappearing into it. I waited.
An hour later the mist started lifting - and the monuments came out one by one, wrapped in mist like something just born. 
I've been here many times. This was nothing like the classic sun-baked desert I know. This day was different. Six photos that show exactly why.
