To make a long story short, in my senior year of college I received an email signed by all 4 UCLA hip hop teams on campus telling me that they didn’t want vmodance to compete at battleroyaledance because it would break tradition. Even though the host of the competition had invited us to compete that year, we were not allowed to because of that email. 

Fast forward 8 years later, I get the opportunity to showcase work with lfgcrew at this same event. There were so many sets I built in my head throughout the years of “what i would have done” if I got to compete at 2018 Battle Royale, and I am quite glad I kept all of them in the drafts so that this one could come to life when it was best aligned ✨ All the tension of that time has been squashed, so anything you peep in the set has no relevance at present 🫶🏽 This was such a fun set to put together, I have always wanted to do an LFG megacrew of sorts… Shout out to my wonderful cast of boss bitches who were beyond down to help this vision come to life! 😉💕🫨💃🏽

Lastly, shout out to lenchennychen for everything he is doing for his communities. I had no intentions of returning to Battle Royale given the history, but Lenny had convinced me that it was worth it. It sure was. Battle Royale has turned into such a beautiful community event, & this year’s event has definitely healed many things for me.
