## Caption

A collar that translates your dog's barks into English sentences. 10,000 people already pre-ordered it.

It's called PettiChat. A 27-gram clip that snaps onto your pet's existing collar. Inside: a microphone, a motion sensor, and a connection to Alibaba's AI.

Your dog barks at the door while wagging its tail — the collar captures both the sound and the movement, sends it to the AI, and one second later your phone shows: "I want to go outside."

You can even reply through the app with a sound your pet recognises. GPS built in. Waterproof. And the company says it gets more accurate the longer you use it.

Now the honest part. The company claims 94% accuracy. Scientists are pushing back — because your dog isn't speaking English. The AI is making smart pattern-matched guesses from sound and body language. No peer-reviewed proof that dogs think in sentences exists.

So is it a real translation? Probably not. Is it the first tool that gives you a genuine window into what your pet might be feeling? Arguably yes.

For the first time, the wall between humans and animals isn't a wall. It's a translation problem AI is trying to solve.
