Hey Akbayan community! ⊹˚₊･

I started this term with very little. I had no idea what I was getting into, I just wanted to create again – for people to see themselves in my work, to feel all the love and passion I have for documentation. All of the sounds and colors of my art are reflective of the way you all made me feel this year.
	
Thank you 49 for teaching me that I am capable of love. Thank you for teaching me that love is comfort. Thank you for filling my life with color, giving me a reason to fight, a reason to feel inspired, and a reason to create. It is only now that I realize our mantra and mission statement are more than words on paper, that we all became someone’s north star. Thank you, 49, for being my Polaris.

To media core, COREWAII, thank you for taking a chance on us and being a part of the first ever media core… #didthat! Thank you for helping us connect with the community, thank you for being an extension of our love.

To my cos, Andrew and Teresa, thank you for becoming two of my best friends, people I’ve looked forward to seeing almost every day for the last year. It’s so funny to think that we were just coworkers at one point. Though I used to get sad that I never got to be in group photos, I’m glad it was always the three of us behind the camera together. When I say you two will be my ⅔ forever, I don’t just mean you’ll be my cos. You’ve truly become a part of me, the way I think, work, create, and love. 

Thank you to my support system – my predecessors, line, family, and friends. Thank you for giving me a reason to stay and keep creating. 

When this term was just getting started, I was told to cherish it because time would fly by. If I could go back and tell myself to cherish my time with Polaris more, I would. Though it’s hard to let this go, I’ve tried my best to love my term like a bouquet of flowers. Bouquets serve us beauty and inevitably pass with grace – no matter the amount of love and life we give to them.

For the very last time, my name is Emily, I go by she/they pronouns, officially signing off as ⅓ of your Media Officers.
